In January 2026, Anthony, Flavian, and Vitus traveled to Uganda to carry out their first independently implemented project in Africa: installing a PAUL water filter at St. Balikuddembe Primary School in Buwama. After months of preparation, they worked with local partners to build a system that could provide clean drinking water without electricity or chemicals. The trip showed them that sustainable impact depends not only on technology, but also on local responsibility, maintenance, and long-term cooperation.
Beyond the installation itself, they gained deeper insight into daily life in Uganda through visits to schools, the Makerere University, local communities, and a slum initiative called Kech Pii Ti. They were especially moved by the openness of the people they met, the structural challenges around water, health, education, and employment, and the importance of strong local relationships. After returning to Germany, they received photos and videos showing children already using the new water system, confirming that this project was not an end, but the beginning of a longer shared commitment.
